Dubai Traffic police has issued tickets to more than 12,000 motorists for using their mobile phones while driving. Police officials reported that the figure has decreased almost a quarter compared to the same period last year.
 
Colonel Jumaa Salem Bin Suweidan, deputy head of Dubai Traffic Police, said that police has issued 12,257 traffic fines to distracted drivers explicitly using mobile phones from January till March this year.

DUBAI: The Dubai Civil Defense team members successfully extinguished a fire that engulfed 2 cars in the Discovery Gardens on Friday afternoon. The fire was reported at 1.39pm by residents. Three other cars were damaged. No one was injured in the incident.

Dubai police issued 419 fines for worn-out tyres during the first five months of 2016, compared to 3,249 in 2015 and 8,291 fines for 2014. This was confirmed by the deputy director of Dubai Traffic Police, Colonel Jamal Al Bannai.

All Tyres sold in UAE must carry RFID Stickers

All new tyres sold in the UAE must have RFID stickers, the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) has reaffirmed.
 
ESMA made further improvements to its regulations and standards for tyre quality in the country and RFID tags have been made mandatory since June 2015.  The RFID stickers ensure greater consumer protection by rooting out tampering and duplication of tyres.
