GM Awards Continental Tire as Supplier of the Year

Continental Tire the Americas and General Motors are two remarkable names within their respective industries. Over the years, both of them have developed a strong working relationship which has proven to be mutually beneficial. Continental supplies tires to GM in the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil, South Korea, and China.

During, GM’s 27th annual Supplier of the Year awards, Continental clinched the title of 'Supplier of the Year' for the third time. Continental’s first win came in 2015. The second win was in 2017, and now it has clinched the title for the year 2018. The event, which was held in Detroit, United States recognized GM’s top 133 best suppliers.

 Continental’s win highlights that the company has far exceeded the expectations and requirements set by GM and continues to bring more value to the company. “We hold our suppliers to a high bar,” said Steve Kiefer, GM senior vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “They (Continental) went above and beyond to deliver the innovations and quality that will help us earn customers for life.”

The team which determines the Supplier of the Year consists of the GM global purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and logistics executives. The criteria against which each supplier is judged consists of Product Purchasing, Global Purchasing and Manufacturing Services, Customer Care and After sales, and Logistics.
