Oct 21, 2025 News & Updates PitStopArabia

Delivery services are booming in the UAE. With more people ordering food and goods online, delivery riders play a key role. But safety comes first. New rules were introduced to make roads safer for everyone, including riders. These changes focus to reduce accidents and ensuring riders follow traffic laws.

New Lane Rules for Delivery Riders in Dubai

Starting November 1, 2025, Dubai has banned delivery riders from using fast lanes on major roads. This comes after a rise in accidents: 854 in 2024 and 962 so far in 2025.

Here's what it means:

  • On roads with 5 or more lanes, stay out of the two leftmost lanes.
  • On roads with 3 or 4 lanes, avoid the leftmost lane.
  • On roads with 2 or fewer lanes, no restrictions, use any lane.

Overview of UAE Traffic Law 2025

The UAE updated its traffic laws in March 2025 under Federal Decree-Law No. 14 of 2024. This law aims to improve road safety, cut down on accidents, and support new tech like electric vehicles. For delivery riders, it means stricter safety checks for scooters and bikes.

Key points for all drivers, including riders:

  • Driving age lowered to 17 years.
  • Stricter seat belt rules (though not directly for bikes).
  • Bans on noisy vehicles.
  • Rules for self-driving cars and EVs.
