Why Tesla Model Y Is Better Than Other Electric Vehicles?

Oct 04, 2022 News & Updates PitStopArabia

The Tesla Model Y is a crossover manufactured with an electric battery by the Tesla company. The company introduced this model in March 2019, while the production was started in January 2020, and it has been launched on March 13, 2020.

Most of you can see how the new EVs of Tesla has hit the road in the automotive industry.  Just like those vehicles, the Model Y CUV is designed to be a more affordable and compact version that continues to grow in popularity than the Model X.

Model Y is manufactured based on the Model 3 sedan platform, sharing much of the same EV DNA. The Tesla Model Y embedded 75% of the estimated parts of the Model 3, which includes the following components:

  • Same Interior Design
  • Same Exterior Design
  • Electric Power Train

There is an option for third-row seating on the Model Y to make the vehicle able to carry seven passengers. Compared to the Tesla Model X, the Model Y sits in a smaller and less expensive segment.

History of Tesla Model Y

Well, it is not a secret for any of us to know that now the electric vehicles market is one of the most attractive niches. This is the reason why non-traditional car makers are also even entering this field like Xiaomi and Apple.

However, it also means that the competition between each other has increased. So, it's interesting to come to know which model is performing better than others. The data has been collected from Clean Technica till June 2021 for new electric vehicles.

In June, the electric car has an estimated 12% of the global market share, while plug-in cars had a 16% market share.

Tesla Model Y Selling Rate Is Twice More Than Other Electric Vehicles

Tesla Model Y is a cross-border sport that has been launched in March 2019. This electric vehicle began to deliver in the following year:

This car model car replaced the predecessor Model 3 in some markets and soon after its launch, it has become the most selling model, even in the future.

The three factories which include: the Shanghai Gigafactory, Berlin Gigafactory, and Texas Gigafactory have started the production of the Model Y. So, the number of production of Tesla’s electric cars has greatly increased.

The given data, which is till June 2021 record, shows that Tesla company has delivered 97,950 Model Y units around the world. Other electric vehicles are far behind in this category. The most interesting part is, that Model 3 is in second place. The Model 3 electric vehicle started its delivery more than two years before the Model Y and its deliveries reached the number of 53, 768 in June.

If we conclude the overall sales of the electric vehicle then that is a total of 913,500 electric vehicles. A total of 10.7% came from Tesla Model Ys, while the 5.9% shares come from the Model 3 in June. These two were Tesla’s best-selling electric vehicles.

Lastly, the Berlin Gigafactory and the Texas Gigafactory will increase the production of the Tesla Model Y in the future. Also, the Shanghai Gigafactory is gradually increasing its production capacity. This comprehends that model Y will be the most selling EV in the future as well. So, the reason to think of Model Y production as higher in the future has higher possibilities.
