New Dubai RTA Scheme: 50% Off Taxi Fares and Free Parking for Residents
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has teamed up with the Ministry of Family to launch the Family First programme. This exciting new scheme, announced in early April 2026, gives special discounts and exemptions on taxis, parking, tolls, and public transport.
Whether you are a senior Emirati, a student, or a person of determination, you could start saving hundreds of dirhams every month on your daily commute.
What is the RTA Family First Programme
The Family First programme is part of the UAE’s National Family Growth Agenda 2031 and the Year of the Family 2026.
RTA and the Ministry of Family signed a new agreement to make transport more affordable and inclusive. The goal is to reduce daily costs for families, support vulnerable residents, and encourage everyone to use safe, licensed taxis and public transport.
RTA Director-General Mattar Al Tayer said the programme creates “a safe, accessible, and inclusive transport system that addresses the needs of all segments of society.”
Who Can Enjoy These Benefits
The scheme is designed for three main groups:
- People of Determination (persons with disabilities holding a valid Sanad card)
- Senior Emirati citizens
- Students (with special Nol cards already being issued, 31,000 cards distributed so far)

Real Savings You Can Expect
Imagine this:
- A regular 20-minute taxi ride in Dubai often costs AED 35-50. With 50% off, you pay just AED 17.50-25.
- Daily commuters could save AED 300-600 per month.
- Seniors and people of determination get free parking in busy areas, no more hunting for free spots or paying AED 10-20 every time you park.
How to Avail These Benefits
- Check if you qualify: Use your Emirates ID, Sanad card (for people of determination), or student card.
- Get your special Nol card: Many students have already received theirs. Seniors and eligible residents can apply at RTA Customer Happiness Centres or via the RTA app.
- Use the benefits: Just show your card or permit when booking a taxi (through the RTA app or call centre), parking at paid zones, or tapping in on Metro/Bus/Tram.
- Download the RTA app: It’s the easiest way to check eligibility, find participating zones, and track your savings.
More Family-Friendly RTA Initiatives
The programme doesn’t stop at fares and parking. RTA has also added:
- 243 dedicated cabins for women and children on the Dubai Metro and Tram
- Mobile nursery buses for working mothers
- Spaces at transport stations for family home businesses
