Abu Dhabi Announces Free Parking for Prophet’s Birthday - 2025

Good news for drivers in Abu Dhabi! The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) and the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) have announced free public parking and Darb toll exemptions on Friday, September 5, 2025, in celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (PBUH). 

This public holiday offers a chance to enjoy a cost-free day of driving in the capital. 

Free Parking and Toll Exemptions in Abu Dhabi

To mark the Prophet’s Birthday, Abu Dhabi authorities have waived Mawaqif public parking fees, Musaffah M-18 truck parking, and Darb toll gate charges for the entire day on September 5, 2025. This applies to all surface parking spaces managed by Mawaqif and all Darb toll gates across the emirate. However, standard charges will resume on Saturday, September 6, 2025, during regular hours.

Key Details:

The ITC urges drivers to:

  • Park only in designated Mawaqif spaces to avoid fines.
  • Avoid parking in prohibited areas or blocking traffic flow.
  • Refrain from using residential parking spaces between 9:00 PM and 8:00 AM, as violations may lead to penalties or traffic fines.

Public Transport and Other Services During the Holiday

While parking and tolls are free, Abu Dhabi Mobility has also shared updates on public transport and service centers:

  • Public Bus Services: Abu Dhabi Express and Abu Dhabi Link will operate as usual from 6:00 AM to midnight and 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, respectively. Check schedules on the ITC website (www.itc.gov.ae) or the Darbi app.
  • Customer Happiness Centres: Closed from September 5 to September 7, 2025. Use digital platforms like the ITC website, TAMM platform, or Darbi app for services.
  • Vehicle Inspection Centres:
    • Light vehicle centers (Al Salama Building, Abu Dhabi, and Al Ain) operate 24 hours.
    • Heavy vehicle centers (Mussafah, Mazyad, and Beda Zayed) open from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday.
  • Public Parks: Open from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM in Abu Dhabi City and until midnight in Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
