How to Keep Your Car Interior Temperature Low in summers

Mar 30, 2021     PitStopArabia

With summers right around the corner, temperatures are starting to increase worldwide, including in the UAE. It means that our fuel consumption will increase as we turn on the car’s AC. But we request that you avoid using the AC too much. Why? Well, it increases fuel consumption and is harmful to the environment. But without the AC, temperatures in the car can become unbearable. So, what to do? Well, it is precisely what we intend to discuss in today’s blog post.

Keeping the Car’s Interior Temperature Low

Here’s how you can avoid using the AC too much and play a vital role in saving the planet.

Use Tinted Windows

Unlike many other countries, the UAE has legalized up to 50% window tinting. For more information regarding window tints, refer to this page. Irrespective of the type, window tints do a remarkable job of lowering the car's interior temperature. How? The tints block the sunlight from entering the car, allowing you to enjoy a much cooler interior. Besides cooling, window tinting offers numerous other benefits.

Avoid Parking in Direct Sunlight

Another way to keep the interior temperature low is by parking it under a shade. When we park our cars under direct sunlight, the interior can become unbearably hot. The only way to cool it down is by using the AC. So, always try to park under a shade. Other than this, direct sunlight can damage the paint job and interior.

Shades

If you are not in favour of using tints, we recommend that you buy shades for all the windows, including the windscreen. There is no need to remove the shades other than the one on the windshield while driving. But some drivers don’t feel comfortable with a shade on their window. So, you can remove the one on the driving seat’s side too. However, as soon as you park your car, make sure that all the shades are back in place. Like tints, shades do a good job of lowering the interior temperature.

Use Seat Covers

Vinyl and leather seats become hot too quickly. The result is that there is no option but to crank the AC to full. To avoid doing so, we recommend that you buy seat covers. They will prevent the seats from becoming too hot.

Dashboard Cover

Just like the seats, the dashboard can become scorching. Therefore, in addition to shades/tints, we recommend that you invest in a dashboard cover. Previously, these covers ruined the car's appearance. But today, there are so many options available that they can enhance your vehicle's appearance.

Lowering the Windows

If you park in a secure area, lowering the windows a little is a great way of lowering the interior temperature. However, if you have any doubts regarding the security, we recommend that you don’t lower the windows at all. Instead, before starting the car, lower all the windows and open all the doors. Wait for 5 to 10 minutes. You can feel for yourself that the temperature is much lower than before. Now, you can start the car.

Wrap Up

Before concluding our article, we would like to mention numerous cases of children or pets dying in cars due to excessive heat. So, if you have a child or pet in the car, make sure that you take them with you wherever you go. Even leaving the windows open or the AC turned on is not enough. If you have any more tips for lowering the car’ temperature, feel free to share them with PitStopArabia.
